Rev. Middleton has been serving and working with Philadelphia churches for the past 16 years doing everything from youth ministry, to working as a pastoral counselor, to wrangling folding chairs. Most recently he completed a call as the Interim Pastor at Old First Reformed UCC. For the past 4 years he has been working closely with churches in transition in the Philadelphia Association of the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference.
Pastor Bill received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania. He also earned a MSed (in psychological services/counseling psychology) from Penn’s Graduate School of Education. His M.Div. degree is from Princeton Theological Seminary. He holds certification as a marital and family therapist through the post graduate program at the Council for Relationships. He has also done graduate studies at Temple University and the Danielsen Institute (at Boston University) focused on the integration of psychology and theology. In addition to this pastoral ministry, Pastor Bill has worked on a variety of community mental health and educational settings over the past 20 years.
Pastor Bill and his spouse, Loice, have a daughter, Tori. They are also the proud human companions of two sister tabbies named Ginger and Snaps. In their spare time, they have been remodeling their home in Horsham Township. Accordingly to Pastor Bill, he is “currently causing mayhem in the laundry room.” He adds, “I’ve been at it off and on for the past year...needless to say, Loice is a very patient person.”
Emily, and her UCC pastor husband Bryan, moved to Bucks County in late March 2009 from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota. Emily is originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and has degrees in both Radio Communication (Luther College, 1998), and Youth and Family Ministry (M.A., Luther Seminary, 2000). Also, Emily is a professionally trained vocalist and pianist, and has worked in both professional and community theatre. A deep love of God, education and music has fueled her desire to serve Christ in the local church. Emily has served as a Director of Music and youth ministry positions in several denominations, including the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the Baptist General Conference, the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), and the United Church of Christ. She is also a trained Stephen Ministry Leader, and has a background in training and equipping people both for ministry as well as in the business world. She currently works part-time at Bucks County Community College in the library, and as Music Director for the theatre program at Sandy Run Middle School in Dresher, PA. Emily actively supports and participates in Bryan’s call as the pastor of the new UCC church plant in Holland, PA, Field of God UCC.
