As a part of our commitment to being a congregation with a personal and caring touch we began in 2007 a prayer shawl ministry. Individuals within the church knit and crochet shawl and lap robes. Each shawl or lap robe while being made is saturated with prayer. Once the shawls are completed they are brought to our Sunday time of worship where they are prayed over by the entire congregation. In the first year of this ministry, 55 prayer shawls and lap robes were given out to members of the church, co-workers, neighbors, family and friends who were ill or bereaved. Countless letters have been received testifying to love, peace, comfort and strength the prayer shawls have given.
Food was collected and Acme and Genuardi grocery tapes are being redeemed for gift cards. These gift cards are being sent to the shelter.
The Women's Breakfast and Bible Study sponsors a child through the Global Ministries of the United Church of Christ. Our sponsored child lives at the Family Village Farm near Vellore, India. This center provides food, clothing, and shelter in a home-like setting for poor, orphaned children. The children live in a family group of up to ten children with a surrogate mother and grandparent. Following their early education the children also learn vocational skills.
With the rising cost of food, more now than ever Salem Church is committed to making sure our neighbors don't go hungry. So, every Sunday, Salem Church collects canned and boxed food items to be donated to the New Britain Baptist Church Food Larder. The food can be dropped off in the shopping cart found in our Assembly Room. The Food Larder is open Mondays and Wednesday (9 AM - 12 PM and 1-4 PM). Food is provided for those in need in the Central Bucks area.
Each fall, adults, children and youth from Salem Church join with other churches throughout the Doylestown area to take a stand against hunger in our world. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting.

Salem Church recognizes the importance of having well-trained leaders if the church is to be effective in the 21st century. Therefore, we dedicate a portion of our budget to supporting this United Church of Christ seminary.

Care Team members agree to visit a member of the congregation who is homebound and visit those who are in the hospital as requested by the pastor. In addition, members of the Care Team make and deliver meals to those returning from the hospital due to illness, the birth of the baby, and after the death of a loved one.
Each year during the Advent season we bring gifts to be placed under the Christmas tree in our sanctuary for the teenagers at Bethany Children's Home. These gifts of electronics, clothing, bedding, toys, and school supplies are distributed throughout the year to the youth living at Bethany.
Sewing group members utilize donated fabric to make blankets. Blankets have been distributed to New Britain Baptist Church, Needlework Guild and Bethany Home.
Meetings are the first Monday of each month (10:00 AM - 2:30 PM). Bring a bag lunch, dessert is provided.
